📖How to Use the Watermark Adder

  1. 1
    Upload your image(s)

Drag and drop one or more images to watermark. Bulk mode applies the same watermark settings to all images. For a logo watermark, also upload your logo PNG (transparent background recommended).

  2. 2
    Configure the watermark

Switch between Text and Logo modes. For text: type your watermark, choose font, size, colour, and opacity. For logo: upload your PNG logo and set size and opacity. Set position using the 9-point grid (corners, edges, centre) or enable Tile mode to repeat across the image. Add shadow or outline for readability on any background.

  3. 3
    Preview and download

The live canvas shows the watermark in real time. Adjust opacity and position until satisfied. Click Download for single images. For bulk mode, all watermarked images are packaged into a ZIP archive. Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP output.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use a text or logo watermark?

Text watermarks (like "© 2025 YourName" or "www.yourdomain.com") are quick to set up, universally legible, and great for photographers and content creators protecting individual pieces of work. Logo watermarks use your brand image (ideally a PNG with transparent background) and are better for businesses that need consistent brand identity across product photos and marketing materials. Logo watermarks look more professional but require a prepared logo file.

What opacity should I use for watermarks?

For subtle copyright protection that does not distract from the image, 20–40% opacity is typical. For visible deterrence against unauthorised use, 50–70% is effective. For client proofing (making an image clearly unusable until paid), 80–100% with tile mode ensures the image cannot be used without the watermark being removed. A semi-transparent watermark on a contrasting background (using shadow or outline) remains visible at 30% opacity.

What is tile mode and when should I use it?

Tile mode repeats the watermark across the entire image surface at a configurable angle, spacing, and opacity. A single-position watermark can be cropped out by bad actors. A tiled watermark covering the entire image is much harder to remove. Use tile mode for client proof images, stock photography, and any case where you need maximum protection rather than subtle attribution.

How do I make my watermark readable on both light and dark images?

Use a white or light text colour with a dark shadow (enable the shadow option), or a dark text colour with a white outline. White text at 60–70% opacity with a subtle dark shadow reads well on most photographic backgrounds. Alternatively, use a semi-transparent black background box behind the text. Testing on your specific images is the most reliable way to find what works.

Will watermarking reduce image quality?

No — the watermark is drawn onto the image at full resolution using the Canvas API. When downloaded as PNG, there is zero quality loss. When downloaded as JPG (recommended for most photos), standard compression is applied — the watermark text is included in the full-resolution compression with no additional quality penalty over a non-watermarked JPEG of the same settings.

Can I watermark multiple images at once?

Yes — bulk mode applies the exact same watermark configuration (text/logo, position, opacity, size, shadow) to all uploaded images and packages them into a ZIP download. This is ideal for photographers watermarking an entire gallery before sharing with clients, or businesses branding a full product image catalogue.
