Divide X by Y and multiply by 100. For example, 30 is what percent of 150: (30/150) x 100 = 20%.
Multiply the number by X divided by 100. 25% of 80 = 80 x 0.25 = 20.
Percentage increase = ((New-Old)/Old) x 100. From 50 to 65: ((65-50)/50) x 100 = 30%.
Percentage decrease = ((Old-New)/Old) x 100. From 80 to 60: ((80-60)/80) x 100 = 25%.
A percentage point is the arithmetic difference between two percentages. Rising from 3% to 5% is a 2 percentage point increase but a 66.7% increase in the rate.
Divide the final value by (1 + percentage/100). A price of 120 including 20% increase: 120/1.20 = 100.
Multiply the bill by the tip percentage divided by 100. A 15% tip on 60: 60 x 0.15 = 9.
Final = Start x (1 + rate)^periods. 1000 at 5% for 3 years: 1000 x (1.05)^3 = 1157.63.
