Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private?

Yes. All generation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No data is ever sent to any server.

Are results truly random?

Yes. Where cryptographic randomness is available via the Web Crypto API, it is used. Otherwise the tool falls back to Math.random(), which is sufficiently random for most purposes.

What nationalities are included?

The generator includes English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Arabic and Indian name sets — selectable from the origin dropdown.

Can I generate just first or last names?

Yes — choose First Name Only, Last Name Only or Full Name from the format selector.

What does the "Mixed" origin option do?

Selecting "Mixed" draws from a diverse, internationally blended name set rather than any single nationality.

How many names can I generate at once?

You can generate between 1 and 50 names per batch using the Quantity field.

Are these real people?

No. Names are randomly combined from first and last name lists and do not represent or refer to any real, specific individual.

What can I use the random names for?

Common uses include naming fictional characters, generating test data for forms and databases, classroom exercises and team or roster placeholders.

Can I copy a single name from the list?

Yes — click any individual name to copy just that name to your clipboard.

Will names repeat in the same batch?

It's possible, since each name is generated independently by combining a random first and last name, similar to other random generators on this page.
